Abstract

It is not simple to describe a career in chemistry. The practice of the profession is as diverse as the people pursuing it. Education is one foundation for this technically challenging field, and advanced degrees will often boost career impact. However, opportunities abound for scientists with an undergraduate degree. Many orthogonal attributes are integral to being a successful scientist, such as safety, respect, business acumen, and emotional intelligence. Journey through a career that has provided access to satisfying outcomes in science, despite never having obtained an advanced degree – highlighting common ground and individual capabilities that help scientists leverage their experience and preferences to enhance their career and the science that drives it.
