WashU Chemistry Advisory Board
The WashU Chemistry Advisory Board (WUCAB) will provide structure to facilitate interactions between leaders in the professional community and the faculty, students, and staff of the Chemistry Department.
Advisory Board Mission Statement
The WashU Chemistry Advisory Board (WUCAB) will provide structure to facilitate interactions between leaders in the professional community and the faculty, students, and staff of the Chemistry Department. The aim of these interactions is to amplify the impact of the research and mentoring activities of the department through the advice provided relating to commercialization of discoveries, professional training of students and postdocs, and engagement of alumni and friends of the department.
The Role of the Advisory Board
- Accelerate translation of innovative research by identifying funding opportunities for commercialization of technologies arising from WashU Chemistry research groups and providing input on business and technical trends, the needs and priorities of industry, government and the professional community.
- Enhance student career readiness by advising on the technical and professional skills that are most needed across a variety of industrial contexts, providing feedback on the professional development activities that are being pursued by the department, and offering guidance for placement of WashU Chemistry graduates.
- Foster engagement of alumni and friends by assisting in the creation of programs and activities to build community within the alumni network and by connecting within their personal network to share about department events and priorities.
In these activities, the Board will report to the Department Chair and Dean with their observations and recommendations, with a focus on identifying opportunities to enhance the research and education mission of the department.
